A new interactive production about 9th century scholar Al-Jahiz and his Book of Animals
Al Ain, UAE, 15th February 2017: 1001 Inventions launched today at Al Ain Zoo a new 1001 Inventions production about 9th century scholar Al-Jahiz and his wondrous Book of Animals. The first-of-its-kind fun and educational production aims to celebrate and bring to life one of the oldest Arabic books on the animal kingdom.
The Exhibition is hosted at Al Ain Zoo under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative of the Eastern Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate and will be open to the public between 15 February and 6 March 2017.
1001 Inventions and the Book of Animals is a fun interactive family experience that brings to life one of the great scholars from the Golden Age of Muslim Civilisation. The 9th century scholar and explorer Al-Jahiz will take visitors on a wondrous journey of discovery of the animal kingdom and the natural world from 1,000 years ago.
Aiming to engage with global audiences through educational transmedia elements, "1001 inventions and the Book of Animals" explores the natural world as valued and appreciated over 1,000 years ago in Muslim Civilisation to help shape our modern understanding and relationship with nature in support of achieving a more balanced appreciation to life.
Visitors to the exhibition will be offered an engaging learning experience through film, exhibits, live performances, games and hand-on activities that aim to foster curiosity and care for animals and the natural world.
Exhibitions produced by 1001 Inventions focus on showcasing the ground-breaking scientific, technological and cultural achievements made by men and women on a land that stretched from Spain to China from the 7th century onwards. 1001 Inventions global exhibitions have already received close to eight million visitors at blockbuster residencies in cities around the world breaking visitor number records. 1001 Inventions exhibitions and global campaigns aim to inspire young people while sparking their inquisitiveness, curiosity and honing their skills to become engaged and responsible citizens of the 21st century.
The "1001 Inventions and the Book of Animals" exhibition will feature special activities and workshops for visiting schools. Teachers from across Al Ain and Abu Dhabi have been invited to make bookings to bring their students to the exhibition. Although targeted at a family audience, the exhibition has special focus on children between the ages of 8 and 14.
