The Muslim Heritage Awareness Group (MHAG), a consulting network to the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation (FSTC), held its meeting on Thursday 24 May 2012 at Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation, in London.

After the reception and the opening words, Mr. Sharaf Yamani, member of the Al-Furqan Board of Directors, gave a short brief on Al-Furqan main work and achievements in the field of Islamic manuscripts during the last two decades, emphasizing Al-Furqan two flagship projects, i.e. the World Survey of Islamic Manuscripts and its ongoing project of the Online Database of the Islamic Manuscripts.

Mr. Peter Fell, Vice President for strategic Affairs and a Trustee of FSTC, gave an overview on the FSTC efforts in sheding light into what is widely known as 1000 missing years from the history of science, through different educational and scientific tools, such as the well-known exhibition "1001 Inventions; Muslim Heritage in Our World.
The keynote speaker in this public event was Professor François Déroche, Director of Studies at the Ecole Practique des Hautes Etudes in Paris and member of Al-Furqan Manuscripts Centre's Board of Experts. His lecture on "Islamic Manuscripts Studies for the 21st Century" was very well received and it covered many aspects regarding the Islamic manuscripts past, present and future.
