
Anaesthesia 1000 Years Ago: A Historical Investigation

Abdel-Halim: "Anaesthesia 1000 Years Ago-I" and "Anaesthesia 1000 Years Ago-II" published respectively in: The History of Anaesthesia, edited by Richard S. Atkinson and Thomas B. Boulton. Royal Society of Medicine Services, London New York and The Parthenon Publishing Group, "International Congress and Symposium Series", N° 134, 1989, pp. 46-48) and in Saudi Medical Journal 1991; 12(5): 351-353. This second part was published in The Middle East Journal of Anesthesiology (published by the American University in Beirut) (with permission from the Saudi Medical Journal) and included in a special issue of the journal on "The third millennium history of anesthesia in the Middle East". The article, as such (Middle East J Anesthesiol. 2000 Feb;15(4):383-92), was considered by Medline as a Classical Article. Online original versions are available here: Article 1 and Article 2. We thank the authors for allowing republishing and express our gratitude to Professor Rabie E.
