Professor Al-Hassani One of 500 Influential Muslims |

by Ian Kendrick The recently released third edition (2010-2011) of The 500 Most Influential Muslims, has bestowed a deserved distinction on Professor Salim T S Al-Hassani, the President of the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation (FSTC). The publication is an initiative of the The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (MABDA), which itself is an independent research entity affiliated with the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, headquartered in Amman, Jordan. Professor Salim T S Al-Hassani was selected as one of the Muslims who, by their work, represent a worldwide influence on the Muslim community, this influence being the power (be it cultural, ideological, financial, political or otherwise) to make a change that will have a significant positive impact on the Muslim World.

1001 Inventions in LA extended for another ten weeks |

Blockbuster show about science and technology in Muslim Civilization has already attracted 400,000 visitors to LA's Premier Science Center. Los Angeles, 2nd January 2012: Due to popular demand, the award-winning 1001 inventions exhibition, will continue it's run at the California Science Center (CSC) for an additional ten weeks. More than 400,000 people have already visited the blockbuster show which highlights the enormous contribution to science and technology made by men and women of many different faiths in Muslim Civilization.

1001 Inventions Exhibition in Abu Dhabi |

The Editorial Board 1001 Inventions, the award-winning global initiative about the history of science in Muslim civilisation, will launch its new venue in Abu Dhabi, UAE, as part of the Abu Dhabi Science Festival in November 19th, 2011. The free educational showcase, which was recently crowned "Best Touring Exhibition", will welcome visitors at the Abu Dhabi Corniche until December 24th, 2011. Following successful residencies in London, Istanbul, New York and Los Angeles, where it has attracted a combined audience of more than 1,500,000 visitors, the 1001 Inventions touring exhibition is launching a bi-lingual Arabic-English touring exhibition in response to public demand.

The Editorial Board On 25th and 26th May 2010 the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation (FSTC) organised the high profile academic conference 1001 Inventions: Muslim Heritage in Our World at the London Science Museum. The conference brought together many national and international dignitaries and academic scholars to share, celebrate, and propel their studies in the vital arena of Muslim Heritage. The conference, which hosted 20 speakers and more than 130 delegates over the two days, focused on the following topics: Enriching the educational curriculum in various countries, cultural inter-appreciation around the world, women of science in Muslim heritage, the environment, and transmission and translation of knowledge. We publish in this special section the proceedings of the conference.

The Editorial Board The Muslim Heritage Awareness Group (MHAG), a network of supporters and key associates of the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation (FSTC) met on 30 March 2011 at the Royal Society in London. We report below on the meeting and provide the proceedings of the meeting edited by the Editorial Board of www.MuslimHeritage.com and approved by the authors. The presentations focused on the theme debated in this MHAG meeting: Marking the 1000 Years of Ibn Al-Haytham's Kitab al-Manazir (The Book of Optics).

The Editorial Board US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, officially opened the award-winning exhibition 1001 Inventions about the scientific achievements of Muslim Civilization at the California Science Center in Los Angeles on 25th May 2011.. The 1001 Inventions exhibition, which has already attracted more than one million visitors during the past year, landed at California's most popular museum, at a VIP launch day attended by LA County Sheriff Lee Baca and Ambassadors from LA-based foreign Consulates.
