Usama ibn Munqidh (1095-1188)
Usama ibn Munqidh wrote an autobiography entitled Kitab al-Ittibar (Learning by Example), which is regarded as being historically important and is one of the first larger works of its kind. Usama witnessed the first decades of Crusader onslaught and settlement in the Muslim lands, and was himself a fighter against them just as his own father was. For more detail click here.
